Always wanted to try scuba diving, but never got round to experiencing what it's like? A try dive lets non-divers experience SCUBA in the controlled environment of a swimming pool.
The SSI Scuba Skills update course is designed to let you brush up your skills after a period of non-diving. This is just what's needed after a Winter break for example so that you can fine tune your skills and recapture that feeling of confidence.

This course includes 4 specialities - Night and limited visibility Diving - Underwater Navigation - Boat Diving - Deep Diving - which have been brought together as the key components of the SSI Advanced Diver Course. These 4 courses represent a sigifcant step forward in your diving skill development and are a natural progression following the completion of the Open Water Course.

The Diver Stress and Rescue course teaches you how to identify stress in both yourself and diving partners. You will also develop the skills needed to assist or rescue an injured diver and how to provide immediate care to diving accident victims.
ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER

SSI Dive Control Specialist, or DiveCon, is our initial dive leadership level and is considered by many as the "fun" leadership rating. It's fun and satisfying because you can do more than any other entry-level dive leader.
As an active Dive Control Specialist you can:
- Work on dive boats, at resorts and retail stores, and take people diving
- Lead dive trips and tours
- Assist SSI Instructors in the pool and open water
- Teach skills in the pool under the supervision of an SSI Instructor
- Teach the SSI Scuba Skills Update program
- Teach and certify SSI Snorkeller's
- Teach selected SSI Specialty courses
- Teach selected First Aid and CPR programs
- Teach the Scuba Rangers Children's Programme
You can do more because you receive both dive master and assistant instructor training in the Dive Control Specialist course. With other agencies these components are separate courses. You will study advanced physics, physiology and decompression theory. You'll practice advanced rescue techniques, fine-tune your diving skills and learn the basics of teaching. Plus, there's a high demand for SSI Dive Control Specialists at retail shops and exotic resorts worldwide.

The SSI Open Water Diver programme uses state-of-the-art diver training components. The 'crew' pack includes: manuals and work book, log book, dive tables, study guides and a DVD video to enhance your learning process. The Open Water course is available for those 15 and above and also for juniors aged 10-14.
The course starts with a snorkeling lesson followed by as many pool sessions as you require to become a safe confident diver. The number of sessions is dependant on individual ability and comfort level.
All equipment use is included in the course cost as is the certification card on completion of the theory and practical aspects.
